Eye Care
Removing eye make-up and the treatment for beautiful eyes.
Remember your eyes are fragile. The skin surrounding your eyes is thin and delicate. Easily stretched with tugging and pulling, it is very important to handle the eye area gently. Here are some professional beauty tips guaranteed to keep you eyes beautiful today and tomorrow.
#1 rule: Never pull, rub, or tug on the eyes.
When removing eye make-up:
Avoid thick, oily, and difficult to remove cleansers like heavy creams, Vaseline, or baby oil. These can leave an oily residue that can continue for days as well as cause eye irritations and clogged tear ducts. All eye make-up removers should be water soluble to come off easily. Begin with removing eye shadow from lid and false lashes, then go to the mascara. Apply remover to finger tips or cotton square and gently slide over lashes in downward strokes. Work lashes and remover between fingers to break down stubborn mascara. Finish with a cotton square saturated with water in a down ward swipe across lid. Wash face with facial cleanser and pat dry. Remove any left over eye make-up under the eyes using a Q-tip dipped in the eye-make-up remover.
Eye make-up remover pads can take away the need for Q-tips and cotton squares. They are wonderful for convenience but make sure you get the oil-free kind so no residue will be left behind.
More eye care tips:
Use an eye cream during the daytime when eyes are exposed to hazards like the sun, smoke, pollution, and constant creasing. Remember to apply by patting gently on the eye area not to close to the eye, which can cause your eye make-up to run. At night, use less eye cream and only on the eye bone not to close to the eye. Eye cream can get into eyes while you’re sleeping and cause you to wake up puffy. Never use a cream that is not Optomologist tested (tested for use around the eyes) as irritation and puffiness can occur.
For beautiful eyes try MODE DION’S Eye Cream with Oolong tea to control puffiness and Carrot Oil with vitamin A to hydrate, repair, and protect dry eyes.
More tips to control puffy eyes: Regular swelling of the eyes can loosen the skin and create under eye sags. If you are prone to puffiness watch for too much salt intake. Many foods and drinks contain large amounts of salt, which not only puffs the eyes but the body too with excess fluid retention.
Place an extra pillow under your head so fluid can flow away from the face. Try chamomile tea bags or chilled cucumber slices on the eyes for 5-10 minutes and don’t forget to drink lots of water. Dark circles are often a shadow created by the swollen under eye. Do not conceal with a light cover-up make-up on the puff only in the shadow. Some dark circles can be caused by hereditary pigmentation, which can be lightened by a dermatologist. |
